*REMEMBER - CLASS DUES ARE COMPLETELY SEPARATE FROM ANNUAL GIVING! Dues not only constitute a pledge

of your continuing membership and engagement in the Class of 1986,

but they also subsidize off-year Reunions events, both in person and virtually, both in Princeton and around the globe.

They also help us to include classmates who might otherwise be unable to go back to "the best old place of all".

The matching challenge may be over, but it's never too late to pay your dues. We will continue to go green, so no more dues requests in the mail.

Join us back on campus for our 38th Reunion the weekend of May 23-26.

We'll be holding Class events throughout the weekend, so come for the whole time, or just one day.

FRIDAY, MAY 24 - We'll gather for dinner at the Ivy Inn.

Come as you are, order what you want (remember it's a CASH BAR) - then hit the tents...

- just East of Nassau Hall between Nassau Street and Chancellor Green.

We'll stuff backpacks for the Kids In Need Foundation again after lunch.

IMPORTANT NOTE - Once again, pre-registration is required for all alumni

returning to campus for Reunions.

After registration is complete, attendees will receive a confirmation email with a QR code

information about where to check-in on campus to receive a wristband paired with the registrant’s information.

The wristband will serve as your entry ticket throughout Reunions weekend.

Climate Corner

"The Grass Is NOT Always Greener" - Your Lawn and Climate Change

Did you realize your lawn could be contributing to climate change?

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), there are an estimated 40 million acres of lawn in the US — nearly as much as all of the country’s national parks — and maintaining those lawns consumes nearly 3 trillion gallons of water a year, as well as 59 million pounds of pesticides, which can seep into our land and waterways. Those fertilizers you use contain nitrogen which converts into nitrous oxide (NO2), a greenhouse gas 265 times as powerful as CO2. It could be leaching to the nearest water course to cause damaging algae blooms.

Also, Transportation Department data shows that in 2020, Americans used roughly 3 billion gallons of gasoline to run lawn and garden equipment. That’s the equivalent of nearly 6 million passenger cars running for a year. (Washington Post, February 22, 2022)

For all these reasons, homeowners and businesses are ditching grass lawns for xeriscaped alternatives, replacing grass with free mulch, rock gardens and local vegetation. Enjoy gardening? Create a butterfly garden to nourish essential pollinators, while you lighten your impact on the planet as well as your wallet.
